Volvo Trucks will start a pilot project with 4 trucks using Liquefied Bio Gas (LBG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel in the Netherlands in the second quarter of 2012. The trucks will be applied for super market logistics. Dual fuel engines will be applied using a mixed fuel of 75% methane and 25% diesel. The action radius of these truck will be between 500 and 1,000 kilometers. These LNG trucks are used already in Sweden. Volvo intends to sell 40 LNG trucks in the Netherlands before the end of 2012. Volvo is also involved in the realization of the so called "blue corridors" in Europe. This corridor is an infrastructure of LNG and LBG filling stations on strategic locations along main transportation routes. About 12 LNG filling stations are planned in the Netherlands before the end of 2012.
